The Secretariat comprises IRGC’s staff. Headed by IRGC’s Secretary General and located in Geneva, the Secretariat undertakes the day-to-day management of the foundation and is responsible for the execution of the tasks delegated to it by the Board and the Scientific and Technical Council, including support to projects and the organisation of events hosted by IRGC.

Secretary General Christopher Bunting has been IRGC’s Secretary General since 2003. He studied for his full-time MBA at Warwick Business School, graduating with distinction. Chris began his career in agriculture, working on and managing his family’s arable farm in England until 1984. He has subsequently worked for multinational companies in the fast-moving consumer goods and utilities sectors, for legal and accounting firms, and in the non-governmental sector. Prior to joining IRGC Chris was Business Integration Manager for TXU Europe, based in Geneva. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. |
![]() | Marie Valentine Florin
Deputy Secretary General Marie Valentine Florin graduated from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris in 1980, and then achieved a post-graduate diploma in marketing strategy from the same institute. She spent the first part of her career in an international socio-cultural research and marketing consulting firm, acting there as group finance director and chief operating officer. More recently, Marie Valentine studied sustainable development and environmental diplomacy. Before joining IRGC, she was working as a consultant on promotion and implementation of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility programmes. |

Communication Administrator Céline holds a Masters degree in Network Information from the ENSSIB in Lyon (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Sciences de l’Information et des Bibliothèques). After a short experience as an editorial webmaster for an e-marketing company, and as a writer for an on-line leisure guide, she worked as an administrative assistant for 2 years. She joined IRGC in 2007. |

Accountant Administrator Laurence Chatelus holds diplomas in accountancy and secretarial skills. She previously worked as an accountant and secretary for international companies from different sectors in Lyon, where she was living until 2002. Then, she moved to Haute-Savoie and worked in Annecy and Geneva. |

Project Manager Malin Samuelsson holds a Masters degree in Political Science and a BA in German from the University of Gothenburg. After starting her career in diplomacy and migration, she moved on to working on governance and human rights in China and Mongolia with a multilateral development organization. Most recently, Malin was the communications manager for a Swiss NGO working in the field of organizational governance in international development. She joined IRGC in 2009. |

Project Officer Belinda holds a BSc in Biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics, and a BA in Political Science and French from the University of Melbourne, Australia. She has previously worked as an academic research assistant and project officer in French studies, Political Science and European studies at the University of Melbourne, and has recently finished up a Masters degree in International Affairs at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva |
