Joyce Tait


Prof. Joyce Tait is Scientific Advisor at the ESRC (UK Economic and Social Research Council) Centre for Social and Economic Research on Innovation in Genomics (INNOGEN), based at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
Prof. Tait has an interdisciplinary background in natural and social sciences and her research interests include risk assessment and regulation, policy analysis, strategic planning in the life science and nanotechnology industry sectors, public and stakeholder perspectives and communication. She is author and co-author of numerous publications.

Joyce Tait is a member of the Scottish Science Advisory Committee and also of their ‘R&D in Industry’ Working Group. She contributed to the Sustainable Food and Farming Research Priorities Group in the UK Government’s Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). She was also a member of the Industry and Science Expert Group which acted as an advisor to the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit of the UK Government during its study on costs and benefits of GM crops. She was recently awarded a CBE for services to social science.
