IRGC’s organisation and structure
Organisational structure and funding
IRGC’s network structure of public, private and scientific institutions involved in risk governance is supported by its Foundation Board, Scientific and Technical Council (S&TC) and Advisory Committee. The Board is the main strategic, oversight and decision-making organ of IRGC. The S&TC is the leading scientific authority, providing quality assurance and scientific input to the work programme. Members of the Advisory Committee provide strategic advice and act as ambassadors of IRGC. The Secretariat is responsible for facilitating collaborative activities, managing joint research initiatives, and carrying out general administration, communication and dissemination of project work. As a not-for-profit foundation, IRGC relies entirely upon income from its network members and grant-making institutions, both private and public.
In 2010, IRGC has received financial contributions from: Swiss State Secretariat for Education and Research; Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation; Oliver Wyman; and Swiss Reinsurance Company. It has also benefited from in-kind contributions from: the Crown Prince Court, Emirate of Abu Dhabi; OECD; Carnegie Mellon University; Swiss Reinsurance Company; Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich and other individuals and organisations.
The Foundation Board

The Scientific & Technical Council
Experts from a range of scientific expertise who overview the scientific quality of IRGC work and assure the quality of IRGC’s publications and other deliverables.
The Advisory Committee
IRGC’s Advisors and Ambassadors.
The Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is composed of the Chairman of the Board, another Board member, the Chairman of the S&TC and the Managing Director. It prepares and implements Board decisions.
The Secretariat
IRGC’s staff, headed by the Managing Director.
